Ai:Sight by Fractal
A cohesive publication on conversations shaping the future of AI.
Industry
Tech & AI
AiSight is Fractal’s flagship thought leadership magazine, exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence, business and human decision making. Each volume brings together industry perspectives, expert voices and real world applications of AI. Volume 11 focuses on the Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) industry and examines how AI is reshaping everything from demand forecasting and supply chains to personalization and retail intelligence. The brief was to create a contemporary editorial system that could translate this complex subject matter into an engaging reading experience across all media.
Scope of Work
Editorial Design, Illustration

A Fractal Framework
The grid takes inspiration from the idea of a fractal where simple structures repeat and expand to create complex systems. This became the foundation for the magazine’s layout, reflecting Fractal’s identity while giving the editorial system a sense of rhythm and scalability.
A Modular Grid
To bridge the gap between abstract geometry and practical design, the fractal-based grid was further developed into a modular layout system that could accommodate a wide range of editorial content. Proportional relationships derived from the Fibonacci sequence established balance across pages and the recurring geometric patterns add a recognisable visual signature.
A More Editorial Palette
Fractal’s existing colour palette was refined into a more mature editorial aesthetic. Colour was used as a navigational device throughout the publication which assisted in distinguishing sections and creating visual continuity. The resulting palette retains a clear connection to the parent brand while giving the magazine greater depth and flexibility.

Translating CPG into a Visual Language
The CPG theme became a secondary language across the publication. A bold display typeface references the typography commonly found on consumer packaging while dashed lines draw from barcodes and production markings. Modular image and text containers with rounded corners echo the soft curves and die-cut forms found in packaging design, creating a direct visual connection between the subject of the magazine and its design system.

Formulating Illustrations
The illustrations were developed as flexible assets that could exist both as static, print-ready compositions and as motion-ready systems for digital use. Each visual was directly informed by the content of its corresponding page, translating key ideas into simplified forms that could be quickly understood at a glance. Structural grids, labelling systems and barcode-like rhythms were embedded throughout the illustrations, firmly anchoring them in the CPG theme. Each piece was designed to balance clarity with intrigue: summarising the core idea of the page while leaving enough ambiguity to encourage closer reading and exploration.

Outcome
AiSight had a more dynamic direction while retaining a clear connection to Fractal. A new grid, colour palette, illustration style and CPG inspired visual vocabulary worked together to give the publication greater consistency and flexibility. The result is an editorial system designed to give each story enough character to stand on its own.
